Seven Dreams Hotel has a location that is absolutely perfect for walkers – Located right in the heart of Byzantine and Ottoman history. Within two-three minutes from the peaceful side street, you find yourself right in the heart of the famous Sultanahmet Square. Facing one side directly is the imposing Blue Mosque (Sultan Ahmed Mosque), while on the other stands the great Hagia Sophia. This is undoubtedly its greatest advantage as within the main square, one may find the world famous-Hippodrome, a great open park, beautiful to walk through with fine Serb fountains and the Serpent Column and an ancient Egyptian obelisk, all just a few minutes from your room when you walk out in the morning as all these things are open way before big sightseeing groups and cruise ship crowds reach there.
Exploration proceeds on foot in every direction. A five-minute walk will bring you from the hotel to this breathtaking entrance of the Basilica Cistern-the great subterranean chamber for Roman water-now one of the city’s most atmospheric places. An easy ten-minute walk with the square will bring you to gates of Topkapi Palace & Harem- a great sprawling enceinte which ‘twere tedious to see thoroughly takes many hours to appreciate former home of Ottoman sultans. It’s so central that you can give the morning to one major sight, return for the hottest hours of midday, cooling drinks or rest in your room, and step out again in the afternoon or evening.
Just 15-20 minutes will take you from the hotel by the main Divan Yolu street, lined with historic tombs and restaurants to the Grand Bazaar, one of the oldest and certainly most massive covered markets in the world. The littler, more fragrant Spice Bazaar is further but still walkable. For food, there is an excellent choice of restaurants within the streets immediately surrounding the hotel, from modest and authentic kebab houses to upmarket places. Yeah and remember, that most important Sultanahmet tram stop (T1 line)- your lifeline across town- is only 5-10 minutes’ walk from here.
